Rebuilding Confidence, Restoring Futures

The Sage School is an independent specialist secondary and post-16 school for young people with emotional barriers to school attendance (EBSA), anxiety, mental health difficulties and co-occurring difficulties, all of whom have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Guided by our vision, "Rebuilding Confidence and Restoring Futures," our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where every pupil is supported to regain self-belief, engage with learning, and realise their potential.

Our ethos is centred on empathy, resilience, and personalised care. We aim to empower pupils to manage their anxiety while developing the confidence, independence, and coping strategies they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our values

  • Belonging. At The Sage School, every pupil is welcomed into our home for learning where they are known by name, accepted for who they are, and given a place to call their own.
  • Confidence. Through our trauma-informed approach and trusted relationships with staff, Sage pupils rebuild self-belief one small success at a time — in the classroom and beyond.
  • Growth. Our curriculum and pastoral support are built around each young person, helping them develop the resilience, independence, and self-efficacy they need to thrive at Sage and into adulthood.

The PACE model

PACE is the lens we use for every interaction — from the morning welcome to an anxious moment. This is how we develop regulation, throughout the school day.

Listening to the young person's internal experience without judgement.

C

Curiosity

Genuinely wanting to understand the 'why' behind a struggle, helping students understand themselves.

E

Empathy

Feeling with the student, providing the co-regulation they need to feel safe and heard.

Therapeutic interventions woven into the day, not bolted on.
