Time to Socialise

Friendship and socialising, timetabled in.

For many of our students, unstructured social time has historically been the hardest part of the school day. We've designed a dedicated communal space — with pool, air hockey, board games, puzzles and crafts — where students can relax with peers and staff between lessons and over lunch.

It's a low-pressure environment to practise turn-taking, communication skills and social interactions.  Adults model these skills alongside them. Friendships here are often the first many of our young people have built in years.

A typical day at Sage

Each morning begins with a soft start; an optional breakfast and check-ins.

Every day incorporates enrichment sessions and therapeutic interventions, alongside the academic curriculum. Each session is separated by a 10 minute 'brain break'.

Lunch break is 45 minutes, and pupils bring their own food with them. To support anxiety around eating pupils can eat in any room.
